What is WIDU.africa?
WIDU.africa is a financing programme dedicated to micro and small businesses in Africa. It is based on a unique partnership model in which entrepreneurs in Africa and members of the African diaspora living in Europe can register and apply together.
The objective is to transform informal remittances into structured, secure investments that support business growth. Through this mechanism, family or community support becomes a real driver of sustainable economic development.
The programme combines financial support with personalised technical assistance to help entrepreneurs launch, formalise, or expand their businesses. By strengthening micro and small enterprises, WIDU.africa contributes to job creation and retention while boosting the dynamism of local economies.
How does WIDU.africa financing work?
WIDU.africa offers a financial instrument that includes a grant and technical support.
The model is simple and transparent:
- The diaspora partner contributes financially to the project.
- The entrepreneur also invests their own funds.
- WIDU adds a grant to complement these contributions (based on a 1 : 1 : 2 model).
For a first participation, the grant can reach up to €3,000.
For the second and third participation, the Original WIDU Grant follows an equal-investment model (1 : 1 : 1), where each party can invest up to €5,000.
In addition to financing, entrepreneurs benefit from professional support to better structure their business, improve management practices, and ensure sustainable growth.
