Driven by a passion for providing affordable and quality medical services, Christine set up Uzwela Medical Centre to address critical healthcare needs in a low-income area, with a particular focus on reproductive health, maternal care, and general well-being.
Building a Healthcare Hub with WIDU.africa
Christine’s vision of opening a fully licensed and well-equipped medical facility became a reality through the support of WIDU.africa. The WIDU grant enabled her establish the medical facility, ensuring it met all regulatory standards and procure essential medical and office equipment to support efficient service delivery. Through this strategic support, Uzwela Medical Centre has grown into a trusted healthcare provider, serving hundreds of community members who previously had limited access to affordable medical care.

Expanding Services & Creating Employment
Recognizing the increasing demand for healthcare services, Christine used the WIDU funding to expand the facility and introduce a pharmacy, making it easier for patients to access prescribed medications under one roof.
Today, Uzwela Medical Centre employs six people, including medical professionals and administrative staff. This expansion has not only improved service efficiency but also provided sustainable jobs in the local community.
"With support from WIDU, we have been able to meet the growing healthcare demands of our community. Expanding our services means more people can access quality medical care without financial barriers"

A Lifeline for the Community
Through Uzwela Medical Centre, Christine is bridging critical healthcare gaps, particularly for women, children, and underserved populations. Whether it’s maternal care, family planning, vaccinations, general consultations, or emergency treatments, her facility has become a pillar of health and well-being in Mwiki-Kasarani.

Christine’s journey is a testament to the power of entrepreneurship, diaspora collaboration, and financial inclusion in transforming communities. As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, we honour her commitment to providing life-saving healthcare and creating opportunities for others.
