Moahmed Khalil Terzi, a computer engineer and technical director, is leading the way in eco-tourism in Tunisia with his project, El Fallega. With a background in organizing outdoor activities over six years, Khalil recognized the potential for a platform that not only offers eco-friendly travel but also fosters a deeper connection to nature and local culture. His expertise in the field has allowed El Fallega to grow into a major player in Tunisia’s eco-tourism sector. Supported by the WIDU Original Grant, the platform connects adventurers, eco-travelers, and service providers to offer sustainable, immersive experiences that promote environmental awareness and cultural respect.

"El Fallega is a platform for connecting eco-travelers, adventurers, pro-nature enthusiasts and service providers, it's the eco-travelers' guide to sustainable and respectful tourism in the heart of nature."
Turning Challenges Into Opportunities
Like many entrepreneurs, Khalil faced logistical hurdles as demand for eco-tourism grew. The challenge of scaling his business and managing the increasing number of tours and activities became evident. With the support of the €2,500 WIDU Grant, Khalil was able to invest in crucial tools that helped him optimize operations. This investment improved El Fallega's capacity to deliver seamless eco-tourism experiences, offering guided tours, eco-friendly accommodations, and a gamified platform to enhance customer engagement.
"Generating financial benefits for local people and private industry, helping them stand out, increasing their incomes, and boosting employability in rural areas. This is what has made El Fallega the largest community in all of Tunisia."
Additionally, the funding helped create two new jobs within the company, with one position filled by a female employee, contributing to both employment and gender diversity in the eco-tourism space. By strengthening the operational side of the business, Khalil was able to provide even more engaging and sustainable travel experiences in Tunisia.
Diaspora Support: A Vital Source of Growth
El Fallega’s success is not just the result of WIDU’s support but also thanks to the contribution of a diaspora donor. The donor, who is related to Khalil, believed in the potential of eco-tourism to protect Tunisia's natural beauty while offering unique travel experiences. Their support was instrumental in helping Khalil expand the platform and develop his vision for responsible tourism.
"Our mission is to promote a new ecological and cultural tourism product on a national and international scale."
With this combination of family backing and WIDU’s Grant, El Fallega has emerged as a leader in Tunisia’s eco-tourism scene. By creating a sustainable model that benefits both travelers and local communities, the platform continues to grow, promoting economic, social, and environmental benefits across the country.
