Meet Lilian Songok, a professional nutritionist, passionate entrepreneur and founder of Gavo Food Production, a company that specializes in the production of gluten-free food. Lilian is a beneficiary of the #Localcall #GreenCall by WIDU.Africa #Kenya programme, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Lilian's commitment to quality and her dedication to meeting the needs of people with gluten sensitivities has made her company a success. Her gluten-free products have gained popularity not only among people who have celiac disease or gluten intolerance but also among people who are health-conscious and looking for alternative, healthy food options.
Lilian’s Gavo Food Production venture has not only contributed to the gluten-free food industry but has also created job opportunities for women, empowering them to become financially independent and created value addition in food production and food waste management. Thanks to WIDU.Africa’s support, she has increased production in gluten-free pastries and flour made from sweet potatoes, green bananas and pumpkin among other range of products.
Lilian has become a role model for women who aspire to be entrepreneurs. She has not only made a difference in the lives of people with gluten sensitivities but has also set an example for women who are passionate about making a difference in the world.
